Similar to a party a getogethering is the unification of people for the purposes of socialising, conversation, or recreation. A getogethering can happen anywhere at anytime without any prior preparation or event coordination with people mingling with the sole purpose of catching up and/or to shoot the breeze. Alcohol is almost always consumed in abundance at a getogethering but it isn't mandatory by any means.
