A word of Jamaican origin formed by the contraction of the words "batty" and "theatrics". Although contrary to is literal meaning of "a theatrical act of gayness", "battyatrics" can be defined as an act or event either slightly or extraordinarily foolish (as if shamefully theatrically performed) consequently conveying an air of discontent to all present or involved. This words can be used interchangeably with the derogatory saying: "That was gay."
