A creature of the night, the nocturnal sponge is seldom seen by people because they rest or sleep in the daytime. These creatures move around and feed mainly during the night and we seldom observe their activities. Nocturnal sponges generally have highly developed senses of hearing and smell, and specially adapted eyesight. The nocturnal sponge has been known to 'hoard' belongings, as a way of marking out its territory. When seen out during the day time, they tend to move slowly but generally speaking are gentle and safe to approach.
