Invented in the fall of 2010 at Bourbon Street Cafe in Los Angeles, a "Fat Americano" is a shot of espresso served over soda and ice. The inventor of this drink, "Barista Paul" prefers to enjoy this beverage with 7-Up for the soda. The name is derived from the already popular beverage "Americano," which is a shot of espresso over water. Trying to stay consistent with American pop culture, Barista Paul thought that adding the word "Fat" to signify the replacement of water with soda would be appropriate.
