It is an experience much like a coincidence where two events in life show great similarities within a very short period of time, if not simultaneously. In most cases, the experience involves a conversation about X, and then X is brought up in life directly after the conversation. The experience can happen to just one person, or it can be shared within a group of people. A slight difference between a coincidence and a synomolie is that often an eerie feeling that it happened for a reason accompanies those who experience a synomolie; much like dejavu.
