When playing a [competitive] sport, more likely then not, there is usually a star that carries the team to victory. Usually, that is called the star player of the team, or MVP. The Fink Effect is when the MVP helps the team overcome defeat all by himself. So, When a team is losing a game without their star player, but then the star player comes in and makes the [difference] [for the team] to overcome and win, that is called The Fink Effect. It doesn't have to be the MVP or star player that constitutes it as the Fink Effect. For a team to make a comeback from losing, because of only one player, that is called The Fink Effect. Thus, as long as one person makes the difference, then the Fink Effect is taking place.
