A feeling of self-consciousness usually accompanied by mopiness. Also refers to feelings of embarassment, inwardness, or lack of confidence. Often presents as a fear that no one likes you, that what you're doing/wearing is embarrassing or that the person you are with (i.e.: mom) is embarrassing. Prevalent among preteens and teens but also present in pre-menstrual or otherwise stressed females. Men also undergo bouts of acute episodic smoopiness, sometimes mistaken for man-PMS.
