a term for sound engineers, e.t.c. to use. could also be perceived as 'din'. a situation when sound is not clear, but 'masked' by colliding close similar frequencies, e.t.c. (too many same guitars, friends!!) or other phenomena creating a sound distortion where 'pure' tones are altered and/or masked. second and/or third generation recordings can create a perfect example of same. ie; loss of clarity, info. seems 'lost in background'
