In football, the act of committing a handball in an effort to either score on or prevent a goal from the opposing team, in order to win a match. The "Maradona" portion of the word refers to Maradona's hand of god goal against England in '86. Maradona's handball successfully fooled the ref and won Argentina their victory. More recently, Uruguay's striker Luis Suarez was caught blocking a goal with his hands. His gambit payed off as Ghana missed the resulting penalty kick and Uruguay won the match.
