This term is used by old fans of the PC game "Marathon" When something is red and black that is of high quality. Reference to Bungie's game "Marathon" which one of the evil characters, Tycho, has red text surrounded by a black background in the many terminal fronts. Tycho has an evil aura because he is in a constant state of anger.
