In 1998, white people went crazy, when Puff Daddy released his hit single "it's all about the Benjamins" A common misunderstanding amongst suburban white folk was that in the lyric "Now... what y'all wanna do? Wanna be ballers? Shot-callers? Brawlers -- who be dippin in the Benz wit the spoilers." Puff Daddy was using a hip new urban term "Shakallers" when in actual fact he was just saying shot callers. In upper middle class white communities hipsters would fight amongst each other to decide who was the bigger baller/shakaller. Soon enough the word became viral and now can be found used in just every high school kid's myspace profile that was created in the late 90's.
