Everyone who has described republicans in their definitions are a bunch of tards. The most of you are describing the GOP, a political ideology that is in no way a form of republicanism. True republicans like Thomas Jefferson and Abe Lincoln advocated states rights and the freedom of one's self over the inequalities of federalism and it's left wing control over a strict interpretation of the constitution. Republicans today exemplify only the ideals of the GOP because they do not understand the fundamental difference between the two. It was the republican party that fought against slavery and took on the progressive era with new laws that protected the consumer from falling victim to the free market.
