a radio telephone with a full-duplex (i.e. transmit on one frequency band and recieve on a different frequency band, and it is always transmitting and recieving) radio, and that allows both people on the line can yell at each other at the same time. people think cordless phones cannot be listened to, but since it uses radio waves to be 'cordless', then anyone with a scanning reciever on the MOBILE (this is a duplex system, remember) can listen to BOTH sides of the conversation.Isolation in the BASE keeps the 2 sides of the conversation on different frequencies, but mechanical coupling in the handset (mobile) means the rx feeds into the tx and viceversa, so that you can hear both sides of the conversation. In my free time, i listen to my neighbor's cordless phone conversations on my radioshack radio scanner.
