A student from a liberal arts college on top of a hill in St. Peter, Minnesota. Demographically, Gustavus attracts almost exclusively affluent, white teenagers from the suburban Mpls/St Paul area. Known for its athletic culture and exception cafeteria, these Gusties live a fit lifestyle. They need good health to survive the Arctic, windy climate that settles in for much of the academic year. Ugg boots and black Northface jackets are the protective uniform of choice for female Gusties, while the male students prefer to drink (preferably Keystone light) until they are impervious to the cold. Despite the weather, Gusties venture down their hill to local house parties most Wed, Fri, and Sat nights. Other popular social traditions include raiding the on-campus Dive to pickup drunken freshmen, 'blacking out' for important sporting events, and creating themed parties such as 'Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes.' Special drinking holidays punctuate the year with Homecoming kicking off the fall and Case Day, a Saturday where each Gustie attempts to consume an entire 24 pack of beer in 24 hours, ringing in the spring. Some students reject this mainstream party culture for sobriety, but outsiders seldom observe their mysterious activities.
