this is a term that jersey shore natives use to define the tourists that monopolize their towns during the summer. they usually use this as a derogatory, negative term categorizing anyone from bayonne, elizabeth, newark and new york that visit the jersey shore from memorial day to labor day. HOWEVER without the income these towns receive from these so called "bennys" these towns would not be able to afford to pave their roads, clean their beaches, and send their children to school. most businesses "down the shore" RELY on the bennys to keep their doors open.
