Slang term for an Irish Delicacy , a particular form of cured ham often served with cabbage and mashed potato . Particularly enjoyed by scumbags soldiers and scientists. Found most often in the Dublin / Kildare regions but can sometimes be found in other counties such as Wexford Limerick or Galway. The name relates back to the famine era when Lady Helen of Castleknock sometimes refered to heli or nellie the elephant - who found a she had access to a fully stocked larder and greedily ate everything inside but then at the last moment decided to leave the ham as an Easter gift for the starving tenants .
