Why Goals Work, W, G, W By providing a target. That's just one theory of human behavior, developed by Dr. Maxwell Maltz, author of the book; Psycho-Cybernetics, hypothesizes that each individual has a "success mechanism" that is part of the subconscious mind. This success mechanism continually searches for ways to help the individual reach it's targets and resolve problems. The "key" word "resolve," "Reach." People do work and feel better when their success mechanism is fully engaged. Having goals ensures that your target represents what is most important to you. To achieve something worth while you must struggle and fail several times before you reach your target.
