being a control freak (and/or extremely distrustful of the other person) by second-guessing his actions or manipulating him into doing what you want. Often it's just as you're about to do the action -- change lanes, turn off the TV, whatever -- but by indicating they feel you should do that action, the steering person has taken all credit for it, and portrayed you as incompetent.
