A joke-off is when someone in a group of friends, a party, or the office tells a joke, normally a very lame one. Then, someone else counters with another joke. Then, the first person replies with another joke. Ad infinium... During these proceeds, another person may interject with a joke. At this point, it becomes a joke free-for-all. Normal, sane people are advised to flee the vicinity as quickly as possible. It is also quite possible that the level of taste and decency in the jokes tumbles very soon after the first one is told.
