Genre of music with many different sub-genre's. Metal first probally started during the Mid 60's with Psychadelic rock bands such as Iron Butterfly, etc..and then evolved into Black Sabbath, ACDC, etc. Today, there are many different sub-genre's of metal, including, but not limited to: Death Metal, Progressive Metal, Black Metal, Doom metal, Melodic Metal, Power Metal, "nu-metal", Thrash metal, Speed metal, and many more.. Some good metal bands: Dream Theater, Odin's Court, Helloween, Burzum, Symphony X, Liquid Tension Experiment, Dark Tranquility, Opeth, Sacrilige, and thousands more!
