A method of psychological evaluation. Psychologists use this test to try to examine the personality characteristics and emotional functioning of their patients. It is similar to the Rorschach inkblot test, only rather than using ink on paper, the psychologist defecates slightly, squeezes his cheeks together, and then spreads them, revealing a chaotic and roughly symmetrical "stinkblot." The psychologist questions the patient about his immediate thoughts, searching for insight about the patient's mental condition. The Stinkblot Test is used primarily in third-world countries where ink is not readily available, but is seeing increased usage among environmentally-minded therapists in an effort to preserve resources, particularly in southern California. Its most major drawback is that it cannot be effectively performed by darker-skinned therapists.
