A way of "addressing" computers on the Internet, just like phone numbers in a phone book. IPv6 is a newer scheme to IPv4, and was developed because we have virtually run out of IPv4 addresses. There are around 4 billion IPv4 addresses -- not even enough for everyone in the world to have their own address! IPv6 has so many more addresses that it would give everyone in the world about 6 billion addresses _each_!
