A style of breakbeat electronic music that utilizes elements of drum and bass, such as hard basslines and odd synths. Started in the UK, tearout breaks quickly grew a following of both drum and bass and breakbeat fans. It has since created a scene all its own, and has seeped across the pond, where it is helping to shape the nuskoolbreaks scene. One of the largest labels for this genre is Hardcore Beats, representing such artists as Screwface, CTRL Z, Odissi and the Magnet Men. Other labels that have tearout artists include Mechanoise, Funkatech and Against the Grain.
