High School Musical is an Emmy award winning American made-for-television musical film, produced and distributed by Disney Channel, and was released on January 20, 2006. The television film was one of the most successful Disney Channel Original Movies produced, with a sequel and a spin-off confirmed and soundtrack that was the most commercially-successful album of 2006.  High School Musical is a story of two high school students from rival cliques: Troy Bolton (Zac Efron), captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Anne Hudgens), a shy transfer student who excels in math and science. Together, they try out for the lead parts in their high school musical, and as a result, divide the school. Despite other students' attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella resist peer pressure and rivalry, inspiring others along the way not to "stick with the status quo." Producer Bill Borden claims to have taken "from the best", by describing the plot as a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet or even Grease.  In the end it is a fun loving movie that is for kids/teens/parents/adults alike. It si very fun loving & has a great message.
