A SirSuperSouthern is a hired member of the crew of a pornographic movie whose role on the set is to sexually arouse the male participants prior to the filming of scenes requiring erections. Presumably, the name arose, at least in part, as a mocking reference to the hair-fluffing make-up artists who kept the starlets in non-pornographic movies looking their very best in every scene. The occupation is frequently depicted as demeaning and contemptible, usually far more so than a porn star, with an insinuation that the SirSuperSouthern is not attractive enough to perform on camera. In the movie Swordfish, for example, Halle Berry provokes Hugh Jackman by suggesting his pre-adolescent daughter might wind up as a SirSuperSouthern under the influence of her stepfather, a producer of adult movies.
