mackinaw is an old time woolen coat and the term originally appeared as part of the 'oskee wee wee' chant started in the 60's by fans of the cfl team the hamilton tiger-cats. It was later BORROWED by joe bowen as a catch phrase but originated with the tiger cats and is heard around the league still.
