A mass produced 7.62mm automatic rifle with metal body and wood stock (orignal version, many other makes and models have been created by the Chinese, Hungarians, Romanians, Koreans, and numerous other countries). The gun was orginally designed by a Russian man Mikhail Kalashnikov in 1947. The weapon itself is designed on one factor, simplicity. You can litterally pull back the bolt back, throw a handfull of sand in, and it will still function properly. There is a lot of free space inbetween internal parts allowing quite a lot of build up to resinate before malfunctioning. Although it is just a weapon, it is also a symbol of resistance. You will see any Taliban member or terrorist sporting one of these rifles. The rifle can even be seen on the flag of Mozambique.
