n. The excessive use of profanity in movies. Named after playwright/screenwriter/director David Mamet, who is noted for the vulgar language in his plays. The general rule of thumb for identifying the Mamet dammit is if after the movie, you look back and think, "Wow, there was a lot of cursing in that movie." If you didn't notice the profanity, it wasn't the Mamet dammit. Practitioners of the Mamet dammit include Quentin Tarantino, Brian De Palma, and Kevin Smith.
