A person usually from North Wales in the UK, who is a Gay man. Ivor comes from the Welsh meaning "Tower of manhood" and Bangor is a small town on the coast of Gwynedd. The two together "Ivor" and "Bangor" were twinned about two hundred years ago when Bangor became a center for learning in Wales. A large population of middle class Gay men became the "Bangor Dandys" which was changed in the book 'How Green Is My Valley?' in the middle of the 20th century.
