dare-OH-G-ANE Noun; Adj. A rare type of fish (very often deep-fried) found in the coastal waters surrounding the island of Australia. The word is derived from the medieval fish, Derodin, which was considered a predator of ancient waters. Commonly used as a compliment with the implications of being as sly, cunning and wholly awesome as the originators Derek Basedow and Morgane Siddhartha were, for their skill in out-smarting the roaming creature.
