1. The Sony Playstation 2. Released October 26, 2000 in the US, is a sixth generation gaming console. The PS2 reads CD/DVD media in the form of PS1 games, PS2 games, music CD's and Video DVD's among others. It is the direct competitor of Nintendo's Gamecube, and also Microsoft's Xbox. The system was home to many famous game franchises such as Devil May Cry, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Guitar Hero and Kingdom Hearts exclusively. Initially it was also the exclusive home for Final Fantasy, Dance Dance Revolution, and Grand Theft Auto until the release of the Xbox, and Square Enix gave Gamecube a Final Fantasy title. Sony's PS2 will be replaced by the next-gen PS3 in November of 2006.
