(n.) A county in the United States in which the sale of alcohol is entirely prohibited by law. Though the antonym of dry county is technically a wet county, most counties that permit the sale of alcohol have varying legal limitations set on the sale of alcohol, so that the "wetness" or "dryness" of a county can be somewhat relative.
