A hypothesis that posits the existence of a higher‑dimensional space (hyperspace) beyond the familiar three spatial dimensions plus time. Hyperspace could allow shortcuts between distant points in normal space, enabling FTL travel (e.g., warp drives). It is a common trope in theoretical physics (e.g., Kaluza‑Klein theory, string theory’s extra dimensions) and science fiction. The hypothesis remains unproven but mathematically possible in some models.
