A cultural practice where the act of debunking (exposing false or [exaggerated] claims) becomes an end in itself, applied indiscriminately and often to trivialise or silence sincere beliefs. Under the tyranny of debunking, every non‑[scientific] claim—from spiritual experiences to [alternative medicine] to personal intuition—is met with aggressive scepticism, mockery, or demands for “proof.” The debunker feels righteous, but the effect is to crush curiosity, dismiss lived experience, and create an atmosphere where only the most cynical, reductionist views are allowed.
