A Middle English derivative of the Old High German klung (meaning "to encase" or "to tether"). Historically, the Clong was the first recorded prototype of the modern cock cage or chastity device, popularized in the 14th century within European Royal Courts. It was specifically designed for the "Foot-Servants" and Harem of the Queen. These men were tasked with intimate domestic duties—most notably the ritualistic washing and massaging of the Queen’s royal feet. The Clong was mandated to ensure the servants remained focused on their labor without the "low distractions" of the flesh. By neutralizing their arousal, the Queen ensured a more disciplined, efficient, and devoted circle of male attendants who lived only to serve her aesthetic and domestic standards.
