mos·tes·ter (adjective, informal/neologism) Definition An emphatic superlative used to describe a quantity, degree, or intensity that exceeds what is considered "most." It represents the absolute peak of a majority, or the "most of the most." Etymology A playful double-superlative construction, combining the superlative most with the suffix -ester (a whimsical variation of the comparative -er or superlative -est). Usage Notes Grammar: While technically redundant (since "most" is already the superlative form of "many" or "much"), it is used for rhetorical effect to bypass the limits of standard English.
