An archipelago of nine volcanic islands in the Atlantic Ocean and autonomous region of Portugal. The most populous island is São Miguel (also known as St. Michael in English). The islands are seperated into three groups; Eastern Group (literally nobody lives here), Central Group, and Western Group. In the Azores, there are more cows than people on the islands because all of the people moved to Fall River or New Bedford. Although Azoreans do speak Portuguese, their dialects (especially that of the village of Rabo de Peixe) are difficult to understand. On Portuguese TV, they often need to provide subtitles when Azoreans speak.
