Frestive (adj.) The act of intentionally resting, slowing down, or recharging during a festive or high-social period. Choosing quiet, low-energy moments in the middle of celebrations, holidays, or busy social seasons to avoid burnout while still participating in the overall festive atmosphere. Origin: From festive + rest. Popular during holidays, wedding seasons, and long weekends packed with plans. Frestivities (noun, plural) Low-key, restorative activities woven into a festive season; the intentional pauses, quiet rituals, and recharge time that make ongoing celebrations sustainable. Examples: “My frestivities include sleeping in, long walks, and ignoring group chats.” “Between weddings and holiday parties, we scheduled frestivities to stay sane.” “Hot baths and leftover pie are my favorite frestivities.” Usage note: Frestivities are not canceling celebrations — they’re how you survive them.
