A 2020s micro-genre characterized by aesthetic theft, where trap artists wear Black Metal corpse paint and use gore-site imagery to mask a lack of musical technicality. Unlike original horrorcore, New Age Horrorcore is purely digital, focusing on "clout-demon" posturing within Telegram groups and Discord servers. It is often used by artists who have been rejected by the Metal and Goth communities for being "posers." The "horror" in the name usually refers to the artist's catastrophic financial situation and inability to function in adult society.
