Japanese school uniforms are called "JK" because in Japanese, this abbreviation stands for "Joshi Kousei" (女子校生), i.e. the Japanese term for a female high school student. The term "JK uniform" specifically refers to the uniforms worn by these female high school students, or the fashion style inspired by them. However, many English speakers don't know what "JK" akcually stands for. Therefore, lately there are many online shop listings that mention that "JK uniform" is the backronym for "Japanese-Korean uniform".
