Etymology From dupli- (“double; duplicate”) + -ter (compare Jupiter). The term appears in late 20th and early 21st century writings on speculative astrophysics and temporal models. Coined by Ashlan Chidester in 1999. Proper noun dupliter A hypothesized duplicate of the planet Jupiter proposed in speculative astrophysics as a conceptual anchor in certain non-linear time travel theories.
