An expression signifying that one is especially proud of a batch of food that they have prepared. A metaphor, likely originating from the fact that the foot is thought of as dirty, and dirt may equal seasoning, and the toe was used to add this extra "seasoning" to food. Nobody, of course, literally put their toe into a batch of food; this expression is purely metaphorical to my knowledge.
