A person who follows a political ideology uncritically, adopting views, slogans, or positions based on the information—or misinformation—they are fed, rather than through independent reasoning or research. Sheepists are often characterized by conformity, repetition of talking points, and resistance to questioning the “flock’s” narrative. Adjective form: sheepist (“That was a sheepist argument, straight off the party’s leaflet.”) Etymology: From sheep (an animal noted for flocking and uncritical following of a leader) + -ist (denoting a follower, adherent, or advocate).
