The word “gege” is an offensive ethnic slur, mainly used in the Philippines refer to East and Southeast Asians, particularly Malaysians and Singaporeans. It has a strongly derogatory and racist connotation and should not be used in respectful conversation. Origin of the word is believed to came about when the economy of Singapore and Malaysia are stronger than Philippines.
