A person with a compulsive, often neurotic obsession with ethnicity, race, and/or heritage—typically expressed through pseudoscientific beliefs, exaggerated identity claims, or cultural essentialism. Ethnolooneys tend to reduce complex social and historical dynamics to oversimplified genetic, racial, or cultural narratives, often using fringe theories or distorted "facts" to justify their views. Common Traits of an ethnolooney: Fixates on purity of ancestry or “real” bloodlines. Frequently cites DNA tests, questionable anthropology, or outdated racial theories. Uses pseudo-history or invented traditions to construct inflated group identities. May gatekeep cultural participation based on arbitrary genetic or phenotypic standards. Tends to ignore nuance, migration, and cultural blending in favor of rigid categories.
