Rusty Lisch was a NFL Quarterback who is possibly the statistically worst QB to ever habe multiple starts. When he played with the 1984 Chicago Bears, he was so bad that he was benched and replaced by a running back (HOF Walter Payton). Jim McMahon was out for the season, Vince Evans went to the USFL, Bob Avellini was cut, Steve Fuller was hurt, I guess we have to start Rusty Lisch... oh no, another stalled drive or an interception by Rusty Lisch- we have no other choice than to put in our RB. The term "Rusty Lisch" is used when you have run out of viable options and have to make choices that are completely substandard.
