Beauty is a word we've capitalised since humans could see and society could breathe. There's always been a beauty standard that was pushed, especially onto women. One minute we are supposed to be skinny the next we are supposed to have curves. We are sold anorexia in jars and depression in bottles as we chase this AI image of beauty. Bodies and faces don't define beauty, a butterfly isn't beautiful because it fits in, a butterfly is beautiful because it stands out. Social media has only heightened the pressure to look a certain way, I used to and still do fall prey to the images of beautiful women living miserable lives, stuck in the gym or staring at an empty plate. I've begun to realise that I need to open my own shell and show the world who I am. My beauty isn't my nose or waist, my beauty is my song, my writing, my passions and personality, my beauty isn't the same as anyone else's and that is what makes it so beautiful. No snowflake is the same, so why should we all be the same?
