Grocery store in the greater Rochester area founded by Robert B. Wegman and now run by his son Danny Wegman and his granddaughters. Today there are 70 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland, and Wegman and his company continue to receive accolades. In 2005, Wegmans was named the #1 in Fortune magazine's list of "100 Best Companies to Work For." In 2006, it was listed as #2. On March 25, 2004 in Philadelphia, Junior Achievement honored Wegman as one of six 2004 laureates to their National Business Hall of Fame, which recognizes “the nation’s most distinguished businessmen and women for their outstanding contributions to free enterprise and the promise of a better, stronger society.” He joined George Eastman and Joseph Wilson, the only other Rochester business people to have received this honor.
