Yané, born Suyan Higin, was a human female, from the planet Naboo, who worked in the service of the Royal House of Naboo for a time. Suyan worked as a weaver, and while she was making blankets for a hospital, she was approached by Captain Quarsh Panaka of the Royal Naboo Security Forces who recruited her to become one of the royal handmaidens in service of the newly elected Queen Padmé Amidala. After becoming a handmaiden, Suyan changed her name, along with the other handmaidens, to Yané. When Amidala left Naboo for Coruscant, Yané and Saché stayed behind and helped with the resistance to the Trade Federation's invasion and occupation.
