Originally referring to a family languages that include Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic, Amrahic, Akkadian, Phoenician, etc, and peoples and cultures historically associated with the languages. Which includes the ancient civilizations in the Middle East and their modern descendants. The term comes from Shem, one of the three sons of sons of Noah in the book of Genesis. So yes, Arabs are semites. However, the term antisemitism refers to prejudice/hatred towards the Jews, as defined in the dictionary and used by most of people. However, the term itself was invented by an anti-Jewish bigot. Hatred against Arabs is called anti-arabism, or anti arab settlement. One may hate Jews but not neccessarily hate semitic people, however when they do they usually do, if they’re white/anglo saxon/east asian or anything but arab or semitic
